It’s widely believed that when you want to influence Congress, making phone calls is second only to personal visits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To encourage our callers, at each monthly meeting of Citizen Climate Lobby\u2019s Austin chapter, we conduct a random drawing to honor an MCC caller as <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Caller of the Month<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To be entered in the drawing, you need to make at least one call during the previous month. If you make three calls\u2014to your congressman and both senators\u2014you\u2019ll be entered three times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The honor comes with a small prize\u2014nothing fancy, just a token of our appreciation. The current prize is a gift certificates for Amy\u2019s Ice Creams. Here’s a recent winner sharing his prize:<\/p>\n\n\n You don\u2019t have to be present to win\u2014we know how to contact the winner! And you don\u2019t have to be a CCL member (even if you\u2019re not, you\u2019re welcome to attend\u00a0the meeting). The January meeting will be\u00a0a hybrid \u2014in-person and virtual<\/a>\u2014 and it will start at around 12:45 pm (after the\u00a0CCL national call<\/a>, which begins at noon)\u00a0on Saturday, January 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some callers like to converse with the congressional staffers who pick up the calls. Other callers make their calls after hours, so they can be sure of just leaving a message. Either way is OK\u2014every call counts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A final reminder: The more calls you make this December, the better your chances of being selected as Caller of the Month<\/strong> in January\u2014and the better our chances of getting climate legislation!
